Room with a view
If you had a beautiful site on a remote island with no road and could only get there by boat what would you build? This one room 600 square foot cabin might be it. This cabin was designed as overflow accommodations adjacent to an existing summer home on a remote island off the coast of British Columbia. It was designed for hand construction and limited equipment due to lack of road access. Every effort was made to preserve the existing landscape. A raised pier foundation worked very successfully to accomplish that goal. The cabin appears as if it was set down by helicopter - and literally it was. It is easy to image you could lift it up and take it away by helicopter as well and no one would know it had been there. The cedar porch, roofing, and siding, means this cabin will only get better with age.
