Orchard House
This home is a good example of what can be achieved in a small space with a tight budget. In only 1600 square feet this home contains 3 bedrooms and comfortable yet compact living spaces. Located in the middle of an apple orchard the roof form pokes above the trees like a lookout. The house was designed for modular construction to minimize waste. The modular dimensions used in plan, section, elevation, and fenestration lend the house a careful sense of balance and proportion. This home won a Northwest Chapter AIA award in 2004 and is featured in "The Face of Home" by Jeremiah Eck and Taunton Press 2006.
